Public engagement, science communication, and outreach activities.

Alongside my research, I enjoy opportunities for science outreach. I find it especially rewarding to help young students develop an interest in science and gain confidence in exploring it for themselves.

  1. During my postdoc, I mentored high-school students through Northeastern’s Young Scholars Program on two occasions, taking students with essentially no prior experience in Python or astronomy to completed research projects within six weeks.

During my PhD in India, I have been actively involved in outreach activities.

  1. I participated in the National Science Day celebrations at the Raman Research Institute’s (RRI) in February 2024.
  2. I served as a regional-level judge for National Children’s Science Congress (NCSC) in Bengaluru in 2023.
  3. I have also delivered a public talk, “The Universe in Your Pocket,” at the Raman Research Institute’s (RRI) outreach program for school children.
  4. In January 2024, I was part of the RRI team at the India International Science Festival (IISF) in Faridabad, Haryana — an opportunity to engage with the public and with school and college students on astrophysics and cosmology. RRI was honored with the “Best Conceptual Pavilion” award.
